The Most Awesome Gift (That I may Have EVER Received)

I have gotten some pretty awesome gifts in my life-time. I had one Christmas as a child/teen when i got a new computer and the things to set up a dark room. However my boyfriend amazed me tonight with what may be my favorite present of all time.

I am notorious for killing plants. I do have a cactus, which i have had for about 4 years. It is not dead, but it does grow in an odd way... I may not have killed it but I think I have scarred it for life. So as someone who is dating a plant killer and someone who doesn't have the best track record with plants himself my boyfriend presented me with this as part of my Christmas present.

It is so cute and I am so very much in love with it. He let me help him make the mushrooms and made himself one as well. I am so excited with them and how they turned out we are considering making a few to sell on Etsy. It was so nice to be creative outside of the fabric world!

Now i am off to keep working on my papers i have been making little to no headway on! Have a great night all :)

Ok, so here is what has happened to me in the Etsy World in the past week or so.

Someone put Harry in their treasury!
I went to a virtual lab and actually got a critique... yes i know! it is amazing! i am still amazed myself! (i pinched myself)
I tried to join an etsy team and they said they weren't taking anymore fiber artists...

I am super bummed about them not accepting me...i was super excited about the idea of working with other artists in the area, and doing stuff... what that stuff was i didn't know, i just knew i wanted to do it.

I had this image of various people sitting in a coffee house talking and drinking tea... maybe i could make a team with that as the crux. How does it sound to other people?

I have been in a huge crafting slump...and in the worst time to be in one...right when i should be ramping up for Christmas!!!

Sometimes i feel like i should save my money and not craft since i feel like no one wants what i make. i put so much time and effort into making my plushies and it makes me sad to see them sitting in my shop going no where.

I think i need to really sit down and make a crafting schedule and make myself do things in the alloted time. I am a full-time student and i work and maintain a cosy apartment so between chores (eg. cooking healthy meals), classes, homework and work i feel like my "me time" dissapears.

I feel like when you are an etsy seller not selling it totally saps your will to create and spend more... but maybe i will try a little harder, since my promotional skills are lacking and see what i can accomplish this holiday season!

Back in Boston....Finally

Hi everyone!

Sorry i have been so negligent to my blog all summer. I was busy working all the time and didn't have access to the internet as much as i would have liked.

But now i am back home in Boston and getting in the swing of things. I moved back here full-time in September 8th and have been busy starting classes again and REORGANIZING my "Studio". I figured i would show you some pic.s of my progress!

But first here is Josephine, a puppet i got at the rummage sale at the church, literally right next door. Guess how much she was! $.50!!! She even has a stick to move her hands! I love her!

But here is my new and improved organizing scheme!

This is my craft side...complete with my new sewing machine i got in may! It is awesome but i haven't used it nearly enough.

We moved the bookshelf from the bedroom into here! it is much more at home here and houses my favorite little guy...

Ok, so i really don't know why posting has been such an issue for me... i have been a lazy bum i guess... I started the ice cream truck on Wednesday, and have today off because it is hazy and gray outside. I hope the weather picks up because it has been SLOW, but it isn't ridiculously hot yet and the summer did just officially begin. I will be posting pictures of the truck soon but have been just trying to get used to driving it first :)

First Craft Show Ever.... aka. Why Did I Waste My Time?

Ok. so i worked and worked and worked to make things for my craft show...my debut to the non-internet world and sold a whopping.... duh duh duh...$33 Dollars. When you count that my table was $20 I feel like an idiot. But i know it was a learning experience and not my right demographic and the 101 degree heat didn't help but i can't help but be bummed!

Maine Vacation

Hi there...here is another overdue post! Here are pics of me and the boy in Maine! We stayed near Bath in a tiny town called Phippsburg. It was so nice to be able to get away especially since now he is living on the Cape being an ice cream man! I start my truck on June 18th but until then am alone in our apartment... it is kinda sad... ok, really sad because i miss him like crazy pants but i have been busy since my FIRST CRAFT SHOW EVER is Saturday the 7th!!!!

Hi everyone!

Sorry i have been neglectful to my blog. I finished up my internship and then immediately went to the cape for my birthday and then Maine for a vacation and now am crafting up a storm for my first craft show on Saturday the 7th! As you can imagine it has been very very hectic here!

But i decided to post because i NEEDED to let you know about some of these awesome etsiers who sent in things for the truck :)

Gayle from whatshername sent cute tags and seashell magnets! Don't you love her gorgeous business cards! In her store she has great fabric goods and beautiful pressed flowers made into bookmarks and magnets! A must see :)

Buffalo Nerd sent an awesome iPod Cozy!!! I LOVE the fabric, it is so fun and fresh. She has a lot of other great cozies in her store and awesome things for the science nerd in your life! Plus she has great bags made from up-cycled goods!

Kung Fu Cowgirl sent me some AWESOME STUFF THAT I AM IN LOVE WITH!!!!! How perfect are these earrings for me! I can't wait to wear them in the truck, i just know little kids will love them :)

Also the cards and magnet calendar are sooo cute! i am going to stick the calendar in my truck! Go check out her shop! it is adorable :)

And last but not least is Ioulia!!! Can you believe how GORGEOUS that necklace and earrings are that she sent me?!?! I just know people will be asking about them and wanting their own! Plus once her cards are up on the vine i know they will catch peoples eyes! I love how professional they look and how well the pictures are done! i wish i had pics that good for my plushies :) Her jewelery is not only gorgeous but it is also affordable! Check it out today!

I am going to make this post short and sweet... i have been home sick today and all i did was sleep, read and watch 3 episodes of Grey's Anatomy.

But i got an awesome package from Side Wing Creations which is such a funny name and a cute pic... i would like to ride in a side car :)

Wendy from Side Wing makes awesome stuff including a great magnet for my truck and a super cool zipper pull that holds her business cards together! PLUS IT HAS A SEASHELL and is ocean colors... i am sure this will be a major hit :)

Hopefully i will feel better soon and have more to say... but here is my schedule for the next week...

Last Weekend in the City...

...This weekend is kind of bittersweet since this is the last weekend that the BF and i will be in the City together until September!

I am happy we will be on the cape...i feel like life there is a different speed, that we are more care free but i also feel like life there has a lot more drama. I do not like drama.

Oh well, enough about me... The sky is gray and gloomy...it is supposed to rain all weekend... nice, huh! it has rained for like the past 4 weekends.

OK, but onto things that make me happy!!!

But Jenny is a talented lady who makes "bags and stuff from recycled materials!" which i think is super cool :)
Her stickers are so eye catching, and her business cards are awesome and sewn from recycled paper...i wish i was that crafty :)

Her stuff makes me happy...thats it, just happy inside. The sticker and business card is so well done...it makes me wanto to touch it because i looks like fabric... i think i may need some flashbulb for my walls :)

I had to photo the back of the business card and the card she sent me! She has her own cards! how cool is that! The card is so pretty it is on my cork board! I want my own cards now! i think it is such a nice touch :)

And if anyone wants to know where i will be Monday all i can say is hot dogs and beer :)

Spending a Monday night like this will make me not hate the end of the weekend as much :)

So far everyone has been so great about contributing to the unofficial "etsy ice cream truck"but Kathy of GypsyGoods and AlteredEvents really blew me away.

When i first put out the call for etsiers to etsy my truck Kathy was nice enough to offer to make my display vine. At first i was obviously excited someone would be that generous but to be honest i NEVER thought it would be THIS COOL!!!!

My picture doesn't do this justice...it is hard to photo it since it is so long! :)

i LOVE the flowers. i said i wanted bright and these are so cool and creative (each one is different) ! i like how the whole thing has pins and clips and flowers and beads etc. it makes it pretty and fun to look at because each time you catch a glance of it you see something you didn't see before.

Even her promo bookmarks and business cards are cool!

Last but not least is this little beauty! it is a rack to hold all the business cards i get! which really shows how much GypsyGoods knows what i need more than i do!!! i have been racking my brain trying to think how i would keep the cards close by and visible and easy to grab the one i would need and this left me speechless! how perfect and how inventive!

When it Rains it Pours!!!

Well...maybe not pour... but i did get 2 things for the truck today, and one etsy thing i ordered for mother's day!!! Which to be honest...3 non-bill items...for me is kinda a rare event :)
in fact i am not sure it has ever happened before.

So now about the goodies :)

Emerald Coast Arts (aka. alycnwonderland on etsy) sent me a fun sticker and business cards... i really like that each card is different. i had fun looking at each one! plus some are.......GLITTERY!!!! :) (we like glitter here :) )

And Karina of Kreated by Karina who makes "Soap that makes Scents"...and soap that smells like heaven sent stickers and a ton of adorable sample soaps...i showed just a few that were in the box of awesome-ness!!!

And last but not least is the present i got for my mom!!! a Mimi Green Collar for my new "sister" (a labradoodle puppy) who i decided needed some style! and as far as i am concerned mimi green is peachy keen! the must have designer for the pooch in your life :)

Ok...now that i have been a good girl and blogged now i need to make dinner (Goat cheese and roasted red pepper, onion and broccoli pizza...yumm...thr BFs favorite) and then sleep because i still feel funky! but i miss you all in etsy/blog land! i hope you are all well!!

Hi All!!!

i have been absent from etsy and my blog for a while... at work i am more busy and have limited internet browsing capability...if at all...so i can't etsy all day like the last 2 weeks :)

Also i have been a little under the weather... feverish and achy...but when i got home today i had mail, and it was NOT A BILL :) which put me in a much better mood!

it is the first sticker for the truck! it is from artsyclay on etsy! She makes really cute clay gifts and jewelery...as well as cute stickers and well made business cards!!! For the artists privacy i blacked out her email and phone number, but if you want some artsyclay for yourself let me know and i will ask her if i can give you the info :)

Mass-Market Goodies

Ok, so i didn't buy anything at mass-market... it was dark and hard to look at things. also nothing was really my style and the things that might have been were too expensive for my budget... but i did go in the swap room and traded in some grosgrain ribbon and fabric for these little goodies :)

I don't know what to do with it...but it was too pretty to leave...maybe i will start knitting again :)

Today is the last day of the weekend, so naturally i am disappointed... and hungry...i am waiting for the BF to wake up so we can eat breakfast. Today i will try to craft something...anything and i am going to mass market.

So this summer the BF and i are going to be ice cream drivers! Last night i was thinking of how to decorate my truck inexpensively and i though "hey! maybe some etsy people would wanna send items to decorate my truck and promote their shops!" So i added a thread in the forums and people have been soooo great! i am so excited about the response and am on the way to an ice cream etsy mobile!!!

End of the Weekend :(

The end of the weekend always depresses me. the work week looms ahead and all i can think about are all the things i wanted to get done and didn't have time/was too lazy to do.

However i did accomplish one thing i wanted to do! I finished batch 1 of my teeny little guys. I am going to make them in batches of 5, and each batch will have a theme... these guys are plain but future guys will have bow-ties, be girls, etc. I am happy with how they came out... i just hope they sell. i am iffy about the pricing... they are $16/each, but they have hand embroidered faces and i hand sew the faces to the bodies and machine sew the actual body, but doing that plus hand sewing the heart and sewing on snaps takes a long time!!! I know if they were cheaper they would sell faster, but i keep reminding myself thats not what etsy is all about.

So, enough about my neurosis, let me introduce you to my TEENY LITTLE SUPER GUYS!!!!!

Good Morning!

I realized that i am only really good at blogging on the weekend...

Ok, so here is what i have been doing during the week! I made some prototype Business Cards and some magnets to send to a promo event!!! The Business cards didn't come out so good, the BF will have to print them at work, but the magnets are rockin'!!! (If you wanna make magnets too they are from magnet sheets at Staples, the glossy ones!)

I am going to post later today or tomorrow with the FULL teeny little super guy (Batch 1) Family! So come back to see 'em!

A Bicycle Built for ME!

Ok, so my bicycle wasn't really "built" for me, but i feel like it was!!! It was exactly, down to a T what i was looking for. It is a blue Columbia mens bike with a metal basket. I found it on craigslist for $70 and my tune-up at the adorable little bike shop down the road was only $25, so i feel like a cute new bike for less that $100 is a good deal!

My little bike is in really good shape too! it is a 1977 but only has some minor rust spots that are totally cosmetic. I have day dreams of feeling European riding around the city doing my errands, putting fresh bread in my basket to a romantic Amelie-esque soundtrack. In reality i am out of shape so i huff and puff up and down hills on my one speed and back pedal so no one hits me and i hit no one else! But it is always nice to dream huh?

Yesterday the BF and i went for a 4+ mile bike ride around the water. We saw a lot of new things and it was super fun! except the part where i think i bruised my butt from my seat and my legs hurt all night :) I know i just need to ride more and more to work out my muscles but jeepers creepers did my legs ache!

As you can see this was when i was happy and didn't realize my legs hurt yet!

They had awesome murals of natural life on the walls on one stretch of path so i had to stop and smell the flowers!

So, because of the adventure and then the hurty legs i didn't get chores or etsy stuff done so here is my to-do lit for today:

Make something for etsy (at least start it)
take pics and post my belt on etsy
do laundry
wash my floors!
go for a bike ride

This Little Monkey's Room!!!

Ok, so here is the post i tried to do this morning at 9:30, but Blogger didn't want to accept my pictures then...

This is my craft room in the morning... I need to clean/wash the windows, but i thought it was still pretty :)

It is one of my favorite places in earth.

This is one of my favorite things in my craft room. My boyfriend bought it for me as a early birthday prezzie!!! Because she has black hair like me and i collect gnomes! I have 5...none of which live outdoors...even though they are "lawn" gnomes. The print was from MultiplePersonality on etsy.

Say "Hello!" to Matty Monkey and Meghan Monkey! These are the custom sock monkeys i made for 2 christmases ago and an anniversary. Before i lived with the BF i made him these so even though we were apart we would always be together in monkey spirit. It is kind of funny i never even though about these guys when i named my shop 2lilmonkeys!

Well look for updates soon! I recently bought a bike and made some flowers for my basket and have pics from my first bike ride!!!

Goodbye Miss Peenalope

So, i am very bad about updating...especially when i am busy at work and working 55 hour weeks...

So there is a lot to write about...

1. Penelope was sent to etsy seller LeasLetters (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=60499)!!! I bid on an item and was chosen to make something before i sold her, but this was my first sale of something i made and someone saw and wanted, rather than a custom order. So, all in all i am sad to see her go, but i am happy she is going to a good home. The buyer said she would send me a pic of Penelope in her new home, so check for penelope updates!

This is me saying "bye" to miss peenalope!

2. I am making pretty good progress on the katamari... i only have i item left to stitch up, and 1 left to make and then all i need to do is make the prince's cousin! I am eager to have it all done so i can post pics of it... i don't want to post any until it is done and ruin the surprise!!

3. I bought a new craft cart for my craft room!!! It was $14 and has 5 drawers. I have one for ribbons, one for stickers and stamps, one for paper goods, one for supplies and one for sewing notions. I also bought craft pants when i went to target. they are nick and nora and have symbols/pictures of foreign countries on them. they are like travel pants.

My other half has started his own craft project after a very long hiatus. He is working on a puppet with a mature theme... We set up a folding table in the craft room and we spend most of saturday night there together. I like spending time with him and him crafting too...it motivates me to work on my own projects...

***Also, most recent news is that i am an Aunt again! As of around 8pm last night i have a new nephew, which resulted in a mad dash of creating a baby friendly stuffed elephant named Elio. ****

Down in the Dumps

so work isn't going that well... it is really getting me down. and i am just feeling lackluster...

i am trying to promote on etsy and see if people like my stuff, but i feel like they don't... i know, i am being a one person pity party.

I just renewed penelope on etsy...trying to draw some new people in, but to be honest i feel like that is cheating and it is increasing my funk.

on a better note work on my katamari is going better! i went back to Joann Fabrics and got circular velcro tabs and sewed them on orange felt circles which i will attach to the ball... it is starting to take a katamari shape!

I just need it to be tomorrow night tonight... i look foward to the weekends a lot, but this weekend i have to go to my parents and that makes me sad because the other half will stay home :(

i am going to go and try to cheer up!

Ok, so VERY exciting news!!!

I made my first sale on etsy!... well, it wasn't really a sale...i bid on making something in the alchemy section of etsy and the person chose ME! How exciting is that! She had 4 other offers and chose ME!!!

I am really wayy too happy about this!

I think the best thing is that it is something i am really excited to make! I may make a few more after i finish this one! I wish i was home right now sewing away ...

the ball is my progress so far...not bad since i started at 5 last night! i even stitched the 4th side and now need to work on the items for it! Do you see its katamari-ness??

I am most worried about making the little guy and making him look good... i want to make sure that the recipient is happy! :)

Penelope... the Post about the Girl with the Goat Legs...

This is Penelope... here is her story:

Penelope wants to go into show business. She thinks that she could be a Rockette, if only her legs were a little bit longer. Sometimes she hangs from the tree branch outside her room and has her little sister hang from her ankles to see if she can stretch her legs out. Penelope thinks her name is too boring to be the name of a world wide sensation so she has asked her family and teachers to pronounce her name peen-a-lope, not pen-el-opi. Sometimes the kids at school laugh and say Peen-a-lope sounds weird but she ignores them because everyone who is famous is misunderstood.

So here it is, 9:44 am and i am at the office wishing i was home in my PJs with a cup of tea making a face for a new plushie...

I was so sad yesterday night when i realized it was SUNDAY, not Saturday like i had thought all day... Since i have started making things for my etsy store, www.2lilmonkeys.etsy.com, i have been having trouble balancing making stuff and spending time just having some R&R.

It has been "better" at work lately since the 55 hour work weeks are back down to around 40-45 but for the past few weeks i haven't had anything, and i mean anything, to do... i have been going batty! I am the type of person who likes to keep busy, and this work load...or lack thereof has left me unsatisfied and cranky, and dying to get home at night to work on something.

At least it has left time during the day to post on etsy forums but no one has bought anything yet, and as naive as i know it is i was hoping for at least 1 sale by now...

I am not really sure thr shape this blog will take, right now i am thinking entries for my creations and then some entires just for/about me...

I love to cook so you may be forced to look at pictures of my creations in the kitchen as well... Of course that is assuming someone other than my boyfriend reads this... I am sure i will be posting again soon...like in 5 minutes, especially since i have zip to do!
